Christmas 2014 Break

Happy New Year everyone!

I had a great Christmas break this year.  My wife's family came to visit us for a few days up until boxing day.  We had a great time, and I took them out to my favourite park right near Calgary Big Hill Springs.  I have posted here before about how much I like it, but it is truly amazing in the winter here.  It is the only place within 100 kilometers of Calgary where things are growing on December 25th.  I love the contrast of the ice and water plants.

My other notable outing was just last Sunday.  I finally got out ski touring at Bow Summit when it wasn't totally socked in, and Tom and I got some great turns.  It was the first time that I got the chance to scope out some of the boot pack lines above the moraine.  I will absolutely be getting back to do some of those lines once we have a deeper, more stable, snowpack.
