Big Hill Springs June 14, 2014

I haven't had a chance to get out and do a bit of hiking for a few weeks now since I sprained my ankle on the first. I graduated off of my crutches on Friday afternoon, so I decided to go and check out Big Hill Springs Provincial Park.
Normally, when I'm out hiking or photographing I run around trying to find details or interesting things that most people are unwilling to get without a little bit of risk. It took everything I had to restrain myself and stay on the path. Even then I still ended up in the creek a few times. It was definitely tough with such an unreliable ankle to get down into the creek to find some interesting angles. Fortunately this area is extremely photogenic and I ended up with some images that I really enjoy.
I also ran into a few other photographers there, and had a good chat with a retired gentleman that just loves the park. I'm looking forward to taking his suggestion and coming back again in the fall and winter to see the way everything changes.
It was great to get out of the city for the first time since I got hurt. It is so rejuvenating to get out into nature, even if it is only a few hundred metres from the car.
