Jasper Dark Sky 2014
November 18, 2014
This post has been a long time coming. I have been extremely busy, and haven't had time to get all of my photos edited and uploaded in the evenings, but here it is, and I am really happy with the pictures from my latest trip.
This is the time of year when I get totally burnt out from work, and the ski season is still weeks away. I had never heard of the dark sky festival or preserve in Jasper before, so this excuse to get out of the city and go hiking and practice my astrophotography was SO EXCITING!
I drove to Jasper through Banff after work on Wednesday night, but I ended up sleeping in my car in the parking lot of Sunwapta Falls. I guess I stopped along the way a few too many times to take pictures.
The highlights of the weekend for me were all of the animals that I ran into out on my adventures, a Bull Elk, Cow and Calf Moose, and all of the other little critters that greeted me. Also, the one clear night we had was the night with all of the events going on at Lake Annette. It was awesome to hang out with all of the other photographers, and get some great images.
All in all it was a great weekend, and I will definitely be back next year.
